[Show Review] Edu, QUIE, Lamar Riddick, Arch Jakob, DJ Strizy and Africana Cherith at 123 Pleasant St
[Thursday September 1, 2016 / 123 pleasant St Morgantown Wv]
Night started off first with DJ Strizy setting the mood with his effortless blends of various genres of music, without a doubt a true skilled and technical DJ. One of the few true DJ’s in the Morgantown music scene. You can see DJ Strizy Friday September 30, 2016 at 123 Pleasant St for the Choo Jackson, 6’6 240, Chris Allen Show.
Something was different this night in 123 Pleasant St, there was this amazing smell of fried chicken, and spices through the venue, add the beer, add the music…YES!
The Africana Cherith Restaurant will be back at 123 Pleasant St Friday night September 30, 2016
So I got a order of wings, made by Africana Cherish Restaurant, some great african food (the jerk chicken wings mannnnnnn!) then got some IPA beer on tap, but can’t remember which, and wait for the first act that came on around 8:30 PM, which was Arch Jakob. He seemed very humble, something you usually don’t see at a hip hop show, made him seem genuine. Had great music, music with content.
Next was christian rapper Lamar Riddick, I’m already a fan of his music, and his live performances, very interactive with his audiences. Something about seeing a talented person passionate about something they believe in, had a Kanye like confidence, definitely don’t sleep on lamar, he is the real deal on the microphone, and a great writer. You can see Lamar Riddick Friday September 30, 2016 at 123 Pleasant St with Choo Jackson, 6’6 240, Chris Allen.
If you like 90’s hip hop beats on some hip hop jazz, tribe called quest, gangstarr, digable planets, pete rock, herbie hancock type ism, QUIE is for you. Perfect freestyle cipher music. Catch QUIE Friday September 30, 2016 at 123 PLEASANT ST playing with 6’6 240.
They are mainly a instrumental band, but they did perform a song called “Royalty” with a vocalist Nicole Mayers.

Edu is a experience, but if you like soul music like I do you know you just don’t hear music like their’s locally, not in Morgantown, maybe in Church everyone awhile, but a Neo-Soul band in Morgantown WV is pretty rare, and personally I take advantage of it whenever I know they are going to play I’m going to go and try see Edu, you can sleep if you want, but the local music scene is fierce with talent, it just needs support.
Best thing about the event was the people, just good people, enjoying, good music, good food, and drinks, just what I needed for the end of the week.
