The 1st of 4 Fundraisers for The Norman Jordan African American Arts & Heritage Academy 2016

This Thursday at 123 Pleasant St is the 1st Fundraiser for The Norman Jordan African American Arts & Heritage Academy. There will be a total of 4 Fundraisers between now and the time of the next Academy in July 2016. The next one is December 10, 2016 with a whole new lineup of artist, and this will be at 123 Pleasant St also. The last 2 will be in 2016, TBA.

“Admission for the event is a donation at the door of at least $1, but in the past we have seen $20 donations and thats OK too, whatever anyone can contribute to the cause is great.” said President of the Academy Eric Jordan (me by the way). “It is also about bringing awareness to the academy, and also supporting our local alumni artist of the academy.”

There are 4 former students performing in this fundraiser, Pretty Chandler, Monstalung, Xavier Williams, and Bastardwolf. There are also local musicians who have performed or taught at the academy such as QUIE, Aristotle Jones, Ace Beanz, Ryan Dunkerly, DJ Strizy, and DJ Dolla.

The academy is held at West Virginia University for one week in July, where the students choose a class of the arts such as theatre, dance, music, vocal, hip hop, steel drums, visual arts and creative writing. In their classes, they prepare for a showcase at the end of the academy on Saturday. During the week we have guest performers and teachers, field trips, and a student talent show, which is usually an incredible performance of young artist s and their current interest.

So this Thursday come support great cause by simply listening to some great local and upcoming talent from Morgantown WV. Atomic Grill will also be open at serving their awesome menu. Also, local artists will be displaying pieces of art throughout the venue! Support The Arts!
